Client:
Inverell Shire Council engaged Heritas to prepare a Conservation Management Plan for the Wing Hing Long & Co Store, a rare and largely intact general store that bears remarkable testimony to the contribution of Chinese-Australians to regional NSW during the tin mining era. Developed from the 1880s on the main street of Tingha, the store retains its original showroom layout, display cases, and a functioning Lamson Rapid Wire cash carrier system, making it an exceptional survival of nineteenth-century retail heritage. The Conservation Management Plan provides a comprehensive framework for the understanding and ongoing care of the place, addressing its history, significance, fabric, and management guidelines to guide future decision-making by Council.
